Thank you for your interest in getting involved with the Comics Advocacy Group!
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we aim to address systemic barriers in the comics industry by providing access to educational resources, networking opportunities, and financial support, as well as advocating for fair wages and working practices.
One of the most amazing things about the comics community is our relentless desire to help each other. As comics professionals ourselves, we know all too well that many of us have been stretched thin – between punishing schedules, low pay, and the physical toll of making comics, it’s hard to consider putting time or energy into yet another endeavor. But when we discuss the issues facing our industry with our peers, the same question arises over and over: How can I help make things better?
We hope to create opportunities for every person who wants to help make comics a more equitable, sustainable profession. Maybe you don’t have a lot of time but would like to fund an educational grant; maybe you have a lot of experience with pitching comics and would like to guide upcoming cartoonists through the process. Read on to learn more about ways you can contribute!
Donate Money
The Comics Advocacy Group is registered as a 501(c)3, so your donations are tax-deductible! Financial contributions like yours will allow us to:
- Provide grants to comics creators and editors which will allow them to further their education, work on independent projects, travel to conventions, and more.
- Produce a robust resource hub for the comics community featuring contributions from a wide array of professionals.
- Establish a long term compensation survey for comics professionals which is inclusive of both the direct market and the book market.

Note: A huge thank you to those of you who have asked if you can set up a monthly donation! We’re happy to say that we have and you can now make your recurring donation here.
Share Expertise
Comics is a decentralized profession with many different paths to entry. It can be difficult for creators to know where to seek out information that is applicable to their specific needs, especially when so many resources are shared via transient methods like Twitter threads.
We plan to build out a robust, centralized, free resource for information about working in comics while paying our contributors the fair rates that we wish to see across the industry. If you are interested in donating your expertise while we build up our funds, we would be incredibly grateful.
We are seeking people with comics industry experience who are interested in teaching workshops, writing articles, or giving lectures on subjects that would be useful to comics professionals, especially those who are just starting out. We are interested in sharing perspectives from the direct market as well as book publishing.
If that sounds like you – please let us know!
Provide Donor Incentives
We would absolutely love to be able to put together incentives for donors, things like digital incentive bundle, auction items, stickers! Please reach out if you would be interested in allowing us to distribute your digital minicomics, brush sets, wallpapers, or other items for this purpose.
Donate Work
The Comics Advocacy Group recognizes the value in creative labor. We plan to show our contributors the respect that we wish to see across the comics industry by providing healthy turnaround times, fair rates, and on-time pay.
If you would like to work with us pro bono as a donation to our cause, we will deeply appreciate your time and will treat your contribution with the gravity and gratitude it deserves. We are seeking:
- Illustration and infographic work to accompany in-depth written resources
- Donor incentives, such as digital minicomics, brush sets, or auction items
- Comics professionals to serve limited terms on our grant review board
- Agents (or legal professionals with an understanding of comics publishing contracts) to provide consultations for cartoonists in need
- Print services for informational handouts
- Long shot here, but survey analysts would be rad!!
In Conclusion
If you are interested in contributing to CAG in a way we haven’t outlined above – please reach out!! We would absolutely love to discuss any ideas you might have.
Thank you so much for your support!
